Last month our church sent a mission team to Nicaragua. They gave a presentation on Sunday night about the work they did while they were there. It was amazing to watch how they touched the lives of the people there. They had pictures of the precious people and the horrible conditions in which they live. We just have no clue how many of the people in other parts of the world live! As we were watching the video, I began to worry about my children. Were they watching the pictures of the homes and the conditions in which they live and worrying about how THEY were going to live once we get to Central America? I just knew that they were having visions of tiny cardboard houses with no electricity and dreading their new life. I was having a little panic wondering what my new home would be like! So, on the way home I devised my plan. I had answers to any questions or concerns that they might have. I was ready to comfort them in their stress. Guess what? They never even said a concerning word. They talked about how they were excited to be going to help people and mentioned a few other things about the presentation. Never did they mention any concern or trouble about anything they saw.
I was pondering this hours later. You know why I think they were not concerned about these material things? They trust their parents. They trust that we will provide for them and provide them with a safe environment. God really spoke to me through my kids. Why do I not trust Him in the same way that my children trust me? I know that He will provide for me. I know that He will keep me safe. Lord, help me to trust you completely. Help me to remember that You are going to take care of me. I have no need to worry because You will provide!
"What I'm trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself."

Love the way that passage reads from The Message. I think I need to listen to that one, for sure--I definitely worry too much.
