We made it!!!

We are here and alive. I am not sure we are much more than that at this point. :)

Our airport experience in Tallahassee was somewhat like a nightmare but we made it. Our flight was late but smooth. We got into San Jose with all of our luggage. Nothing short of a mircale I assure you. They took us to our home and we went to bed. At that point we were exhasuted and overwhelmed so rather than have total melt down, we slept. :) We got a great nights rest and are busy today trying to get settled.

Here are some of our initial thoughts of Costa Rica:

It is colorful here. The flowers and the building are all bright and beautiful.

750 square feet is small. Very small. :)

On the streets here they drive, ride bikes, walk, sell fruit and veggies. I mean all on the same street. A little crazy.

The weather is perfect.

They like fireworks a lot. At some point last night I awoke wondering if we were living in a war zone. The neighbors say this is the norm.

There are a million more things to tell you but I am on the neighbors computer so I am going to wrap up for now.

Oh by the way, a very nice man knocked on our gate this morning asking if we would like to buy some fresh chickens from the back of his car trunk. We passed. :)

Please continue to pray for us. We are hanging in there but feeling pretty overwhelmed which is normal I am sure. More soon.

It is great to hear from yall and know that you made it safely. You, Tim, and your kids are on a great adventure experiencing things most of us only see on TV. Thanks for finding the time to keep us posted with everything else you have going on. Love you all!

Let me know once you figure it out yourself! :) We lived 2 blocks east of Bosque Park on "Gringo Street" where the IMB has 5 houses!! Fun times!! Also, our best friends in the universe are still there- we were across the street from them- they are Brian and Jenn Pennington with boys, Jordan and Trevor- AWESOME FAMILY!!!!!!!!!! Praying for you all as you make this transition- have fun with school this year!!

We are so excited to hear from you.
Tally is always crazy but you made it and are safe. The chickens make me laugh--last year we saw a small datsun pickup truck covered in dead but still feathered chickens going down the road.
We are praying for ya'll---hang in there--you know God has an awesome plan for this awesome adventure he has you on.
Hugs and kisses

Wow - so nice to not have luggage issues, I'm sure! How long will you be there for language - a year (I'm assuming you're there for lg)??

Tina, God has been preparing you for this part of your journey since you were a young girl. He wrote His message of love and service in your heart possibly the very day you met Him. I am pleased and know that this will be an amazing journey. I am so proud of you and Tim. How long will you be in language school. Candice spent 4 1/2 months in Guatamala going to language school and she is bi -lingual as a result. Cultural immersion is the best way to learn the language. What a wonderful opportunity for your children. Thier lives are changed forever and Service will become a part of the landscape of thier hearts . . . what a precious gift you and Tim have given them. I love you and will be praying for you. there is so much I want to know . . . I promise I will be calling as soon as you have your Vonage service again. I am so proud of you!

Tina!!
Oh I am so glad you made it and that everything is ok. I have been overwhelmed as well :) Our family is amazing but it is hard to constantly hear a language you don´t understand, my brain just wants to turn off! We start language tomorrow, and ummm yeah, they love fireworks here as well - in fact, they woke me at 6am this morning, apparently they were coming from Ginny´s house, lol. All our lugage made it although it had been completely gone through and our printer had been broken...such is life.
Keep your head up and know we are praying for you!
I loved your post, it is hilarious but so true, i think i had one of those chickens for lunch yesterday!!
love you!

It is so exciting to see you blogging so soon. Chris and I were getting dressed for church this morning. As Chris was ironing he asked, "Hey, what do you think Tim and Tina are doing right now?" I quickly responded, "Plucking chickens!". We laughed because we both know you and Tim will become vegetarians before you start plucking dead chickens that you bought from the back of some strange guys trunk :) Actually, I know you will become so much a part of this culture (once you get over the shock of it) because of your love for the people and your desire to introduce them to our TRULY AMAZING GOD!!!
We love ya'll!!!!!!

Excellent news. I bet you don't pass on the chickens in a couple weeks. We hope for a nice neighbor with internet when we arrive Thursday.
